The highlight during our Bhutan trip was the Bumdrak Trek although the climb was a challenge for all of us and it might have been even a bit too hard for my father. But he proudly reached the camp! One of the great moments on the trek was the lunch break at the temple where we had a tasty lunch in the sun with an awesome view of the mountain range.

We have really enjoyed our time in Bhutan. It was great to discover your culture, the old temples, Dzongs and the nature. And also your religion is very impressive and interesting. Our guide Pema has given us the required information when we visited the places. And furthermore, he made the trip particularly pleasant for us because we had a lot of private fun as well. Our big shared football interest is one reason for that.

The stays had been very good, too. It was a great idea to choose the homestay in Thimphu. Damchoe was so kind and had many interesting stories for us during dinner. The meals were so tasty and Damchoe has served us some typical Bhutanese food.

The hotel in Paro was also very good even if we had some hard discussions with the hotel staff about the room change for the second night. It was again a very quiet place with very delicious food. A big compliment goes also to your driver who was a very very safe driver!

One of the great moments on the trek was the lunch break at the temple where we had a tasty lunch in the sun with an awesome view of the mountain range. Joschka, my mother and I have taken the last challenge to the top after reaching the camp to have a great view of the valley and the mountains. Unfortunately the view was not so clear but nevertheless it was a great experience. Joschka, Pema and I decided to climb up again in the morning. So we have agreed to start on 6 a.m. After a comfortable, warm and looong night in the tents we have found a winter wonderland outside the next morning. The sky was absolutely clear so we started the climb again in the snow and could enjoy sunrise on the way. On the top we could enjoy the whole mountain range including the second highest peak in Bhutan. After this amazing experience, breakfast in the camp and visiting Bumdra temple we started to descend to reach the Tiger Nest. It was awesome to reach this final highlight after this exhausting trek.

It was a great time in Bhutan. Joschka and I have already decided during the trip that we will come to visit Bhutan and Pema again. But we will spend more than 5 days then. And we will definitely go for a longer trek then.

In the end I want to thank both of you for your support in the planning phase. And your trouble shooting with Bhutan Airlines was also very good Sonam 🙂 By the way, we traveled with 18 passengers overall from Kathmandu to Delhi 😉
