Noryang Homestay

Noryang Homestay is a lovely little B&B style accommodation opposite of Misethang school in Tang valley. The young hostess Tshering Wangmo is very welcoming and speaks good English. This is a great place to stay for families with kids. The little family run shop downstairs supplies the locals with the necessary groceries. Guests are accommodated in a new addition to the house with a small sitting area, two bedrooms and a bathroom. One door leads to the house altar and it is possible to meditate there if one wishes to or just to have a look.

The surroundings are stunning and you can conduct various day-hikes such as to Ogyen Choling palace or to Kunzangdrak Gonpa. Tag Rimochen temple is also nearby. Guru Rinpoche is said to have meditated in the cave near the temple in the 8th century. You can also visit the school, meet the teachers and if they agree practice English with the students.

Tshering Wangmo’s cooking is very delicious and if you are interested she will show you how to prepare some of the dishes. Here you will also be served the local moonshine called ara. In Bumthang it is mainly distilled from wheat.
