This tour will allow for a deeper exploration of remote East Bhutan. You will visit local farmers, lamas and artisans at their homes and hike to important pilgrimage sites. Some places are rarely visited by tourists and you might be the first foreign guest to attend a local village festival. This tour is perfect for those who want to travel off the beaten track and immerse in local culture and livelihoods. Accommodation will alternate between homestays and comfortable tourist standard hotels.
DAY 1: Arrival at Samdrup Jongkhar
Approx. 4hs drive from Guwahati to Samdrup Jongkhar
DAY 2: From Samdrup Jongkhar to a remote village in Trashigang
Approx. 3hs from Samdrup Jongkhar to a beautiful village in one of the remotest regions of the country
DAY 3: Village in Trashigang
Hike to a beautiful gonpa and meet with some artisans
DAY 4: Continue to Trashigang, Lingkhar
Continue to Lingkhar and stay at a resort with beautiful surroundings
DAY 5: Trashigang
Visit Rangjung monastery and Radi village
DAY 6: Trashigang
Hike to a lovely gonpa and meet the lama family there
DAY 7: Trashigang to Mongar
Approx. 4,5hs drive to Mongar via Drametse monastery
DAY 8: Mongar to Lhuentse
Via Khoma village and hike to a cave temple
DAY 9: Lhuentse
Hike to a beautiful gonpa and meet with lama & family
DAY 10: Lhuentse
Explore Lhuentse valley: Dzong, Takila & Gangzur pottery
DAY 11: Lhuentse to Trashigang
Return drive to Lingkhar, plenty of stops on the way
DAY 12: Trashigang to Trashiyangtse
Drive to remote Bumdeling wildlife sanctuary with Yangtse on the way
DAY 13: Tashiyangtse
Bumdeling wildflife sanctuary, hikes and local artisans
DAY 14: From Trashiyangtse to Trashigang
Approx. 3hs drive back to Trashigang, sightseeing on the way
DAY 15: From Trashigang to Samdrup Jongkhar
Drive back to S/J, photo stops on the way
