Tshewang Phuntsho is an experienced cultural and nature guide with many interests and passions. He loves Buddhism, hiking and nature and possesses extensive knowledge of birds. He is also interested in Buddhist iconography and he spends his free time with expanding his knowledge and skills. Furthermore, Phuntsho enjoys photography and mountain biking.
In his soothing voice Phuntsho loves explaining facts and figures to guests, weaving in stories of local saints, demons and evil spirits. Already versed in Japanese, Phuntsho attended a German language course during the pandemic and successfully passed the Goethe A2 German language exam. Subsequently, in the summer season of 2023, he spent a season working at an Austrian mountain hut to get exposure and to keep updating his German.
Phuntsho hails from Mongar in the east of Bhutan, where he spent his childhood in a remote village on the family farm. Phuntsho is aware of the hidden traditions in this rather unexplored part of the kingdom and loves introducing his guests to his culture. His honest, grounded and also jolly nature make for a good travel companion especially to our village hosts who appreciate his humble, hands-on demeanor.
