Seasons
Please note that during festival season in Mar/Apr and Oct/Nov, places are crowded with tourists. Flights and good hotels are booked out fast so we advise early bookings. We arrange tours to Bhutan throughout the year depending on your interests.
Weather patterns in Bhutan have become more difficult to predict. The low season month June is considered monsoon season. In recent years however it proved to be pleasantly warm and great for travelling. It has additional perks: the days are longer and the tariff is lower. If you want great views of the mountain peaks however you should stick to autumn and winter months starting from second half of October.
East Bhutan is very pleasant during Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, Mar and you might just be lucky and come across household rituals and religious festivals. Such events usually take place during December and January. Generally in the winter you are less likely to bump into fellow travelers all the time.
We develop special interest tours in the following areas:
- Mushroaming tours
- Forestry & agriculture tours
- Orchid tours
- Bird-watching tours
- Trekking, hiking, rafting and horse riding

Additional services: Our Bhutan specialist, itinerary consultant and social anthropologist Ulli will be happy to provide more in-depth personal assistance in English or German language via social media or phone. You will be thoroughly briefed on different aspects of Bhutanese society, culture and traditions. As co-founder of the Austrian based association Bhutan Network, Ulrike offers visits to projects in Bhutan, such as the Tang Farmers in Bumthang and KNC in Zhemgang. Ulli has excellent contacts to rural communities all over the country.
Children do not enjoy sitting in the car for long hours and quickly get “dzonged out” by too much sightseeing. Our family tours are based on family-friendly slow travel and embrace activities such as horse riding, rafting, thangka painting, basket weaving, pottery, staying on farms with typical farm chores including animals, meeting with local families, visiting schools and interesting projects, forest hikes and much more! We also offer utmost flexibility for families where daily activities can be adjusted.
The only way to experience traditional hospitality and everyday life in Bhutan is by staying with a family. We offer homestays in most of the 20 districts. How often you choose comfortable hotels or cosy farm/homestays on your trip is entirely up to you. Tell us what your minimum requirements are and we will select the perfect home. Homes range from very traditional farms where facilities are rustic, to upgraded homes with attached bathrooms and hot water. Each house and host family has their own specific appeal and personality.
